Olivia gives her Presidential campaign speech

The October meeting of the 4-H Firing Fanatics was called to order on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 6:00 PM at the Washington Street Library. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Olivia and the 4-H Pledge was led by Kaufman. The roll was taken by Caldwell. 5 members, 1 leader, and 2 parents for a total of 8 people attended the meeting. The minutes were approved as read. There was no correspondence. The Treasurer’s report was given by Kim B. There were no other reports.

 

Old Business included a report on a kid’s shooting day at the Frostburg Gun Club by Caldwell.

New Business included a motion by Olivia to set club dues at $1.00 per month per member and was seconded by Caldwell. It was announced that archery shooting would start in November. Dates will be posted on the site and emailed to members. A motion by Olivia was made for the club to hold a design a logo contest at the November meeting with $10 given to the top prize winner. The motion was seconded by Alex. The members also approved a motion made by Kim to purchase a gun safety video and seconded by Alex.

 

 

Dillion tells club members why he would make a good Club Historian

Kim made the motion to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Caldwell. The program for the evening was the club elections. The following members were elected to office: Olivia – President, Alex – Vice President, Kaufman – Secretary, Olivia & Dillion – Club Historians.

Caldwell with his 4-H Firing Fanatics Pork BBQ Sign

The August meeting of the 4-H Firing Fanatics was held on Tuesday, August 25th at 6:00 PM at the Washington Street Library in Cumberland. The meeting was called to order by Kim B. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kaufman and the 4-H Pledge was led by Caldwell. The roll was taken by Caldwell. 6 members, 1 leader, and 2 parents for a total of 9 people attended the meeting. The minutes were approved as read. There was no correspondence. The Treasurer’s report was given by Kim. There were no other reports. Old Business included a report on the club’s BBQ fund raiser that was held the previous Saturday. The club netted $296 from the event.

New Business included the announcement that the club had been the recipient of 6 brand new bows and a collection of archery equipment from David Knipes of Rutland, VT. The Firing Fanatics had answered an internet posting that David made about extra equipment he would like to donate to an archery group that was just starting out and in need of equipment. Kim answered the ad and David was kind enough to ship our club all the equipment for free. The upcoming Car Wash fund raiser at Chick Fil-A was discussed. Kim also announced that at the next monthly meeting would be holding officer elections. Kim made the motion that the meeting be adjourned and Olivia seconded it.

Caldwell mixes up corn bread

The 4-H Firing Fanatics held a BBQ pork fund raiser on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009, at Christ Lutheran Church in LaVale, MD.

Club members premade all the food for the event which included pulled pork BBQ, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and cornbread. The kitchen was supervised by Jim Butler, manager of dining services at Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA.

Each meal was sold for $5.00. The club netted $296 on the event.

July Monthly Meeting Minutes July 30, 2009

The first monthly meeting of the 4-H Firing Fanatics was held on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009, at 6:00 PM at the Washington Street Library. The meeting was called to order by Kim B. Kaufman B led the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Caldwell Butler called the role and read the minutes of the previous meeting. The minutes were approved as read. There was no treasurer’s report for June. Kim B. gave a Fund Raising Committee report. Caldwell B. gave a report on the Allegany County Fair. Kim B. gave a report on the Cumberland Bowhunters Club and how our club will be using their facilities for archery. New business included sign up for several committees. The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Kaufman B. and seconded by Caldwell B.

4-H Firing Fanatics Monthly meeting

4-H Firing Fanatics Monthly Meeting

Organizational Meeting of the 4-H Firing Fanatics was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. The club members in attendance decided on the name 4-H Firing Fanatics as the club name. The club decided that archery would be the first sport that they would introduce, in the summer of 2009. Air rifles and smallbore rifles would be the second discipline that would be added in the fall of 2009. The club decided that they would do a car wash fund raiser with Chick-Fil-A on Saturday, August 29th. The club also decided that they would do a Pork Bar-B-Que fund raiser on Saturday, August 22nd, which they would pre-sell tickets starting in July. The proceeds from these two fund raisers would be used for purchasing the initial archery and rifle equipment for the club. The club would also send requests for funds to local service clubs. The monthly meetings for the 4-H Firing Fanatics will be held on the 4th Tuesday of the month with the first meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 6:00 PM at the Washington Street Library in Cumberland, MD.
